Chris Daleo enters his second season as Head Coach for the Minot Skyrockets and his sixth season as a Head Coach in the Continental Basketball Association. In, 2006-2007, he led the Minot Skyrockets to a 31-17 record in the CBA’s American Conference and missed the Championship Series by only two quarter points. Daleo now has a 144-96 regular season win-loss record, making him ninth among the All-Time CBA Coaches in winning percentages (.600). Daleo was also named Coach of the Month for February 2007. Over his four seasons with the Lightning, Daleo went to the playoffs four times, and the CBA Championship Finals in 2005. He was named the CBA Coach of the Year in 2002-2003 after leading his team to a career best 32-16 record. He has also been named CBA Coach of the Month a total of five times. Daleo was named Eastern Conference CBA All-Star Coach three times in his four years as a Head Coach and was the first rookie coach since 1996 to be named an All-Star Coach. In 2005-2006, Daleo finished the regular season 30-18 and took the Rockford Lightning to the CBA playoffs for the fourteenth straight season. He was named the Eastern Conference CBA All-Star Coach for the third time in four years. He also reached his 100th career win during the season. During the 2004-2005 season, the Lightning finished the regular season with a 26-22 record and advanced to the playoffs. The Lightning beat the Great Lakes Storm three games to two in the first round of the CBA Playoffs and advanced to the CBA Championship Finals where they lost three games to one against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Daleo was also named the an All-Star Coach in 2005. In 2003-2004, the Bolts finished with a 25-23 record and their 12th straight playoff appearance. Coach Daleo enabled two of his players, Linton Johnson (Chicago Bulls) and Desmond Ferguson (Portland Trailblazers) to be called-up to the NBA. The 2002-2003 season was Daleo’s debut as a Head Coach in the CBA. He was named CBA Coach of the Year and was selected Coach of the Month in November and December. Daleo also became the first rookie coach since 1996 to coach in a CBA All-Star Game. He finished the season with a 32-16 win-loss record. Prior to entering the CBA as a Head Coach, Daleo spent three years as Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Barat College in Lake Forest, IL. As Head Coach, Daleo was responsible for transforming the program into one that ranked as high as 9th in the nation and a record of 57-15 over the last two years. They were also a Final Four participant in the NAIA Division I National Tournament in their first ever tournament appearance. The Bulldogs were 2nd in the nation scoring (avg. 98.7 ppg) for the 2001-2002 season after leading the nation in scoring (avg. 101 ppg) the prior season. Coach Daleo’s record at Barat College was 66-39 and he was voted 2002 NAIA Division I Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. Prior to his success at Barat College, Coach Daleo was an Assistant Coach with the Rockford Lighting for two years. Daleo got his start in coaching basketball at Kiswaukee Junior College in Malta, IL., where he was an assistant coach. Coach Daleo lives in Davis Junction, IL., with his wife, Karen, and their son Satchel, and daughter, Maris, who were named after baseball legends Satchel Paige and Roger Maris.
